SCOOP!! & NEWS Aamir may star in Rushdie film 17th Jan 2005  22.40 IST By ApunKaChoice Bureau   Bollywood star Aamir Khan is likely to star opposite Padma Lakshmi in a film written by famous author Salman Rushdie. The yet-to-be-titled film will be based on a short story ‘The Firebird’s Nest’ by Booker winner Salman Rushdie. Rushdie is expected to finish adapting his story into screenplay by the middle of this year. Padma Lakshmi, Rushdie’s wife, will produce the film. Salman and Padma are believed to have approached Aamir Khan to play the male lead in the film. The film will tell the story of love-hate relationship between a young woman (Padma) and an elderly man (likely Aamir). Lakshmi’s own company, Lakshmi Film Productions, owns the rights to the story. The film is likely to be directed by Apoorva Lakhia.
