Ash signed by Michael Douglas

Reports are that the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai has been signed by Hollywood superstar Michael Douglas for his forthcoming venture.

But before you all get again on that speculation whether Ash would go wet and wild with Douglas just like Glenn Close in ‘Fatal Attraction’, Sharon Stone in ‘Basic Instinct’ and Demi Moore in ‘Disclosure’, hold it.

Ash will not be playing the female lead role opposite Douglas. Reports say that Ash will be playing a character role in the film titled ‘Racing the Monsoon’, which is a co-production with Sahara One Motion Pictures and Percept Picture Company.

The film will be the third part in the action adventure series ‘Romancing the Stone’ and ‘Jewel of the Nile’ and will go on floors in January 2006.

The film will be shot entirely in India, especially in Sahara’s sprawling ultra-luxury Amby Valley Township.

Douglas, also producer of the film, is trying to get the support of the Indian Railways: a major part of the film is centered on a diamond robbery in a train.

Touted as an action adventure, the film will be directed by Steven Carr, who has to his credit films like ‘Daddy Daycare’, ‘Doctor Doolittle 2’ starring Eddie Murphy.

‘Racing the Monsoon’ will be the first American co-production to happen in India. And even though it will be a Hollywood venture, it will boast of a large number of Indian actors.

The movie, which is rumoured to cost close to $20 million, will also have some songs to suit the taste of the Indian audience.

Douglas is reported to have seen Ash in ‘bits and pieces’ in Bride and Prejudice and Raincoat .

Douglas is also slated to being his stunningly beautiful wife Catherine Zeta Jones for the shooting in India.
