SCOOP!! & NEWS Bollywood razzmatazz in Dubai 01st Feb 2005  19.54 IST By ApunKaChoice Bureau   A galaxy of Bollywood stars captivated their fans in Dubai last weekend at a glitzy Global Indian Film Awards (GIFA) ceremony. Close to 15,000 people attended the star-studded event at the Al Wasl stadium. Shah Rukh Khan emerged as the best actor for his performance in Main Hoon Na and Rani Mukherjee was chosen the best actress for her appreciated performance in romantic flick Hum Tum . Farah Khan bagged the best director award for her film Main Hoon Na which also won the best movie statuette. The winners were chosen after the popular votes of over 26,000 Bollywood fans across the Middle East. The event also had power-packed performances by Kareena Kapoor , Akshay Kumar , Saif Ali Khan , Lara Dutta and Shahid Kapur . Popular stars, including Salman Khan , John Abraham , Feroz Khan and Bipasha Basu , presented the awards. The ceremony also paid tributes to yesteryear stars Mehmood Parveen Babi and Amrish Puri . GIFA is an official Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) event and was conceptualized to acknowledge excellence in the Indian Film industry and honour artists in 23 categories across various genres, from acting to film making.
