The deportation of Nigar Khan has opened a can of worms of sorts, with all the other overseas artists also coming under the scanner like Yana Gupta , Katrina Kaif and Adnan Sami .

Yana is undoubtedly Queen of item numbers. The hot babe is actually a Czechoslovakian, born in Bruno. Her marriage to a Pune-based Indian photographer has granted her a minor Indian status.

But Yana remains a foreigner nevertheless. Yana was unavailable for comment regarding the issue of her foreign status. Her secretary however clarified that, "Yana has a work visa that is registered and updated regularly. She's never faced any problems with Immigration. I cannot comment on her Indian Citizenship status. But it takes a while to get citizenship, and she is trying for one."

Katrina, also of foreign origin, was unavailable for comment. Katrina has been modelling regularly for major assignments and is in fact the face of Lakme. Her most recent achievement has been to star in a yet-to-be released movie opposite Salman Khan .

Adnan has released some very popular music albums and has done music videos with some of the leading lights of Bollywood.

His song ‘lift karado’ had Amitabh Bachchan , while other videos have included artists like Amisha Patel , Mahima Choudhary , Raveena Tandon amongst others.

But Adnan defends his position in Mumbai and says, "I am basically from Mumbai as my mother has always been based here. I have even done my training in classical music from Pundit Ravi Shankar, here in Mumbai. Pakistan has never been my home. I stay either in Toronto, where I have spent many years, or stay here in Mumbai."

Adnan is hopeful of getting an Indian citizenship soon, as he has appealed to the Indian Government to grant him one. Adnan has never faced any problems with the immigration officials and has a work permit.

A most recent spate of movies had at least one foreigner either starring or acting in a minor role in it.

In Subhash Ghai 's, Kisna , Antonia Bernath stars opposite Vivek Oberoi . Annabelle Wallis shares screen space with Bachchan in ‘Dil Jo Bhi Kahey’ which is due for release next Valentine's Day weekend, next year.

Illene Hamman , who played the female lead role in Rog , apparently has preferred to head home (South Africa) rather than hang around in Mumbai.

Jelena Jakovljevic, the Yugoslavian model who danced in ‘Dupatta beimaan re’, in Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao , has even got two more item songs and one movie lined up on offer, proving the continued demand for white skin on the big screen.

Bottomline is, ‘white skin babes’ are here to stay in Bollywood, legally that is.
