Pak actress draws flak back home

Pakistani actress Meera has drawn a lot of criticism in her country for her bold act in an upcoming Bollywood film.

Meera is presently acting in her first Bollywood film Nazar by Mahesh Bhatt's wife Soni Razdan . The film features some bold scenes by Meera, including a kiss with her co-star Ashmit Patel .

But certain people and groups in Pakistan have reacted very strongly to Meera's act in Nazar.

Sources in Islamabad are quoted to have said that the film's "objectionable scenes" showing Meera kissing an Indian actor were against Islamic ethics and moral values, prompting the Pakistan government and the culture ministry to impose a heavy fine on the actress.

There is also a possibility that Pakistan might restrict its actors from appearing in Indian movies in future.

Meera also reported earlier this month that she was getting threatening calls from certain groups in Pakistan.
