Pakistani actress Meera returned home on Wednesday after completing her shooting schedule for Bollywood film Nazar.
Meera, who complained of threats and sustained campaigning by certain groups in Pakistan accusing her of featuring in a kissing scene with actor Ashmit Patel in Nazar , returned to Karachi determined to clear her name in the controversy.
On her arrival she was received at the Karachi airport by her family members and friends. A large contingent of the local media was also present to report on her return home.
Meera said she planned to take up with Pakistani authorities the persistent reports in the media that she has been fined and would be banned from acting in Indian films for featuring in kissing scenes.
She and her family have complained of receiving threatening calls from people claiming to represent religious groups in Pakistan who protested her decision to act in Indian films.
Meera told reporters that allegations were being made without watching the film as it has not yet been released.
“The shooting for the movie has just been completed and people here have not seen the movie yet. How can these allegations be made against me,” she was quoted by GEO TV as saying.
