Kareena on Jai Jawan

Kareena Kapoor paid a two-day visit to the desert heartland of Rajasthan to meet Indian soldiers as a part of NDTV’s award winning show ‘Jai Jawan’.

She is one of the highly paid actresses in Bollywood, but Kareena put on no airs of a star and came forth as a warm and charismatic person on her Rajasthan visit along with anchor Arun Thappar.

Kareena’s visit began at Jodhpur from where she traveled to Bikaner by road. There she was welcomed to a musical reception by an army band. She even tried her hand on one drum only to evoke laughter from everyone.

In the evening, jawans lit a bonfire for Kareena and she distributed sweets and shared jokes with them. She was lavished with compliments and praises from the soldiers and she decided to test their claims by asking them questions about her films.

This led to an impromptu game of quiz and the winners got the music CDs of her latest release Bewafaa . In between, Kareena also visited the army kitchen and had a chat with the cook.

The next day, Kareena went to the firing range and even handled a light machine gun herself. After that she joined the jawans for a game of basketball and then cheered them from outside the court.

Later, Kareena met the wives of soldiers over a cup of tea. She also joined them in Punjabi gidda.

At the close of the day, Kareena took to stage, regaled the jawans with her song and dance. A few soldiers joined her in the jig and she even taught them some of her favorite dance steps.

‘Jai Jawan’ with Kareena will be telecast on the three NDTV channels over the Holi weekend.
