The Sunfeast Zee Cine Awards, held in London on the Holi day, surpassed all expectations. The show featured on-stage performances by Bollywood stars and had all the glitter and dazzle of tinsel town.

Zee TV chairman Subhash Chandra's son and Zee Telefilms director Puneet Goenka must be credited for putting together a show that can be called the Indian Oscars in the making. Unlike many drab award shows back home, the Zee awards was on a much lavish scale, with a bigger set up, state-of-the-art technology, big AV screens and, above all, excellent hosting by Karan Johar , Sajid Khan, Juhi Chawla , John Abraham and Lara Dutta .

The Excel Arena in Dockland, East London, reverberated with roars of thousands of Bollywood fans everytime one of their favorite stars came on stage. The show was studded with dance performances by Zayed Khan , Amrita Arora , Aishwarya Rai, Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan . But the real scene-stealer was Shah Rukh Khan whose number with Preity Zinta and Pakistani actors became the highlight of the show with the India-Pakistan amity theme.

There were several entertaining moments in the show. Sajid Khan regaled the audience with the screening of his 'sting operation' of some nominees in which he showed their politically correct answers and then compared them with the real answers.

Later, John Abraham made a dashing entry on his Dhoom bike to host a part of the show along with Lara Dutta. However, on the stage, John looked a little nervous compared to a rather eloquent Lara.

The show was also marked with emotional moments with the felicitation of Dharmendra with lifetime achievement award. Yash Chopra was honored with Zee/Yash Zohar producers award. Mr. Chopra won three awards during the night and when he came to receive his award for the Best Director, he announced that he won't compete in future in any of the award shows. However, he mentioned that he would continue making films.

Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan were not able to attend the show.
