SCOOP!! & NEWS Amitabh, Akshay’s ‘race against time’18th Apr 2005 22.25 IST By Aparajita Ghosh Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar play father-son duo in director Vipul Shah’s movie Waqt – A Race Against Time . The film explores father-son relationship from a new perspective. The movie stars Priyanka Chopra as Akshay’s love interest, wife. Vipul Shah’s wife Shefali Shah is paired with Bachchan in the film. Boman Irani and Rajpal Yadav chip in some comic moments in this family drama. 
Waqt tells the story of Ishwar Sharawat (Amitabh) who is less like a father and more like a friend to his son Aditya (Akshay). Ishwar is a business tycoon and wants his happy-go-lucky son to become a responsible individual. Aditya is in love with Mitali (Priyanka Chopra). After some initial tiffs the two lovebirds decide to settle down. Aditya and Mitali marry with the blessing of their parents. Ishwar, who had expected his son to become a responsible man after marriage, is disappointed to see no change in Aditya. In a desperate measure, he expels his son from his house. That is when a rift comes between the father and the son. A special screening of ‘Waqt – A Race Against Time’ was held recently in Mumbai and those who saw the film praised director Vipul Shah for his sensitive handling of the subject. The film is aimed at the family audience.
