The historical film ‘Prithviraj-Samyukta’ to be directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi and starring Ajay Devgan and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles, has been postponed indefinitely.
But there are two different versions of the reasons that are coming forth for the postponement. The first one quotes Santoshi saying that he is busy with ‘Family’ which stars Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles.
Santoshi says that ‘Family’ is fifty percent ready and after that he will go on to make Saamna, which was launched recently and has Ash, Ajay, Akshay and Nana Patekar in the lead roles.
Santoshi adds that Saamna is ‘a hard-hitting, intense soul searching exercise with a social conscience’.
But our sources have a different story to tell. According to our reliable sources, no producer was willing to back ‘Prithviraj-Samyukta’, the budget of which runs upto 25 to 30 crores.
And when Santoshi was told this, he accepted it reluctantly saying, "Yes, the finances for a historical are daunting. Let us see when it happens”.
Whatever happens, one thing is for sure, with ‘Family’, Saamna and then ‘Prithviraj-Samyukta’, the ace director seems to have three aces up his sleeves.
