SCOOP!! & NEWS Urmila looking forward to Naina27th Apr 2005 12.30 IST By IANS Urmila Matondkar is excited about her role in the supernatural thriller Naina, set for a May 20 release. In the film, Urmila plays the role of a blind girl who recovers her vision after 20 years. 
“It is nowhere close to Bhoot ,” says Urmila. “Bhoot was strictly in the horror genre while 'Naina' deals with the supernatural and the paranormal. There is a strong emotional undercurrent to the story as well, which I found very appealing,” she says. It has been more than a year since Urmila has had a release to her credit, which she attributes to a conscious decision of doing only select roles. “After Ek Haseena Thi I decided to take a break and check out the roles that were offered to me. Post 'Bhoot', there were a lot of horror films that came to me but none of them seemed to be inspiring enough to be taken seriously. Also, I felt that I had reached a stage in my career where I could afford to pick and choose,” she says. Urmila has got two other releases lined up this year, Pankaj Parashar's mystical and spiritually oriented film Benares and Anupam Kher's Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara. “Without being boastful I think I am one of the few achievers who has had the audacity to do what I believe in without bowing down to the dictates of commercial constraints,” she says. |
