It was the biggest hit of its time – 1995 to be precise. But ten years on, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge is still going strong.
DDLJ, as the film is popularly known, marked the directorial debut of Aditya Chopra and had one of the best on-screen couples in lead roles - Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol .
The late Amrish Puri and ex-censor board chief Anupam Kher played contrasting fathers to Kajol and SRK respectively in the film.
DDLJ is all set to create an all time record when it completes a 500-week run at Mumbai´s Maratha Mandir theatre on May 13. Plans are afoot to release the film all over the world and celebrate the unique event on a very large scale.
The popularity of DDLJ stems from the fact that the film has collected a whooping amount of Rs.11,28,24,771 upto the 495th combined week, just from Mumbai.
