After seven long years in the making, director S Raamanathan’s film Zamaanat, starring Amitabh Bachchan in lead role, is ready to hit the marquee.
The bond between Amitabh and Raamanathan goes back a long way to the early 70s when Bachchan acted in his comedy-thriller ‘Bombay To Goa’. That marked the start of a friendship that led to various other projects like Mahaan, Giraftaar and Ganga Jamuna Saraswati.
Zamaanat went on floors in the late 90s but the film took a fairly long time to make because Raamanathan was under pressure to change one of the actors ( Arshad Warsi ) in the starcast. However, Raamanathan stuck to his decision and eventually made the film with Warsi in it.
Zamaanat is the story of a blind lawyer (Amitabh) who fights a crucial case to save an innocent man accused of committing a murder. The film stars Karisma Kapoor in the female lead.
Even though Zamaanat is slated to hit theatres in June, Raamanathan is already beginning work on his next project for which he has signed Mallika Sherawat and is hoping to sign Big B as well.
