Holland will have a taste of Indian cinema when a host of Bollywood celebrities would descend on Amsterdam next month for the sixth IIFA Awards.
One of the highlights of the event will be the premiere of filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra's much-awaited film Parineeta, which is based on a novel by Bengali author Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.
Parineeta would be shown at the ancient Pathe Tuschinski Theatre. The film would also be the first Hindi movie to be broadcast on Dutch television.
At a press conference announcing the IIFA awards, Amitabh Bachchan (the brand ambassador of the IIFA awards) said: “There is a phenomenal interest in Bollywood in that wonderful country (Holland) and so I'm personally delighted that the awards are going to be hosted there.”
“I have seen magnificent love for Indian cinema in the Netherlands when my film Black was screened there,” Bachchan recalled.
Bachchan also expressed his pleasure at the fact that a Vidhu Vinod Chopra film was being premiered at the IIFA awards.
