SCOOP!! & NEWS Shah Rukh raring to be different22nd May 2005 19.55 IST By Aparajita Ghosh Describing his forthcoming movie Paheli as his “whim”, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has said that he is raring to do different films. Shahrukh seems to have had enough of candyfloss romance in movies. It was his artistic saturation with such films and his eagerness to do different roles that prompted him to produce Paheli when Amol Palekar, the film’s director, approached him.
Speaking about the unusual story of Paheli, SRK told IANS: “It's a fantastic folk story of a woman who falls in love with a ghost. Just that one thought gripped me.” Paheli has Rani Mukherjee playing a lovelorn woman who falls in love with a ghost played by SRK. The film stars Sunil Shetty and Juhi Chawla in marginal roles while Amitabh Bachchan makes a cameo appearance as a shepherd. “I really feel 'Paheli' is a whim of mine. I just wanted to produce something completely different. And the fact that everyone I asked went along with my idea proves how much they love me,” SRK is quoted by IANS. SRK also added that he wants to do different films now. “If any of my friends get an urge to do something different I'll produce the film. Insha-allah, if Paheli does well, we'll be financially equipped to do a lot of different films,” he said. Besides Paheli, Shah Rukh will also act this year in Farah Khan’s next film ‘Happy New Year’. He is also slated to do Karan Johar’s next movie with Rani, but the shooting of the movie has been postponed.
