Aishwarya unfazed by criticism

Bollywood’s gorgeous lady Aishwarya Rai has faced much criticism ever since she started making appearances on American TV shows.

She could be rightly termed as the Hindi film industry’s ambassador in the US. The Americans got a glimpse of Bollywood (and Indian culture) when Aishwarya Rai appeared on American shows like David Letterman’s Late Show and Oprah Winfrey show. However, her performance, her demeanor and her answers to the questions came under severe criticism from critics back home.

Critics described her as ‘self-conscious’, ‘superficial’, ‘giggly’, ‘full of politically correct answers’ and what not! But Ash has taken all the criticism in her own stride.

In an IANS interview, Ash said that people are too busy playing up her so-called boring image.

“Ash-bashing is what's going on constantly over here. Someone asked me why am I politically correct even when people hit out so openly at me. But the truth is I've never been brought up to behave any other way. I can't say anything hurtful about anyone. I just don't believe in saying mean things. I won't feel good doing that. It's strange how being well behaved is perceived as being too propah and staid. This is the way I am. I'm sorry,” Ash told IANS while responding to the criticism directed at her.

Ash added that there is also another misconception that her priorities have shifted to Hollywood. She said she is doing Hollywood films just like the way she has done two Tamil and a Bengali movie in her career.

Ash has just finished shooting for Paul Berges’ movie ‘Mistress of Spices’ and will begin shooting for Jagmohan Mundra’s film ‘Provoked’ soon.

In Bollywood, she is at present committed to two projects: Rajkumar Santoshi’s Saamna with Ajay Devgan and Yash Raj banner’s Dhoom 2 with Hrithik Roshan .
