We know that the Big B did not charge a penny for acting in Sanjay Dutt’s project Kaante . Then he did Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie Black for free. And now he has returned his pay cheque of Rs 5 million back to Shah Rukh Khan for a cameo he has played in Khan’s forthcoming movie Paheli . 
Bachchan says money was not important in any of the three projects. In an interview to IANS, Bachchan said he did Kaante for Sanjay Dutt out of his gratitude for the late Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt who supported him in his struggling days in the film industry. “How could I forget how wonderful Sunil and Nargis Dutt were to me when I was a newcomer lost in the city? I never forget these gestures,” Bachchan is quoted as saying. About ‘Black’, Bachchan said he did it for the love of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s cinema. Bachchan added that charging money from SRK for his cameo in Paheli was just out of question. “Why should I charge any money from Shah Rukh? He's a friend. When he asked me to do a small role in ‘Paheli’, I immediately agreed. These are little gestures that one makes for friends. Where does money come into it?” said the Big B.
