SCOOP!! & NEWS Salman's love, lies and laughs08th June 2005 19.15 IST By Aparajita Ghosh Almost fifteen years after Salman Khan shot to fame with his first hit Maine Pyar Kiya , the handsome actor now plays a loverboy, albeit of flirtatious kind, in the comedy movie Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya. Directed by the master of slapstick humor, David Dhawan, Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya stars Katrina Kaif , Sushmita Sen , Sohail Khan and Arshad Warsi . 
The film has Salman playing an orthopedic doctor named Samir. The handsome doc has two weaknesses - he cannot resist women and he can't stick with a woman for long. And for those smitten ladies Samir wants to get rid of, he conjures up an excellent lie - "I am already married." Sooner than he utters these words, the woman leaves him. Privy to Samir's philandering ways is his secretary Naina (Sushmita Sen), a dutiful nurse who is obsessed not with men but with her work. And then one day, a beautiful girl named Sonia (Katrina Kaif) comes to Samir's clinic and does an irreparable damage at our handsome doc's heart. Completely lovestruck, Samir proposes Sonia for marriage. She accepts the proposal, but on one condition - she wants to meet Samir's wife. Now, the brilliant lie that had saved Samir many times in the past becomes a hurdle in his 'true love'. He decides to cover this lie with another lie - he presents Naina as his wife. In Salman Khan's own words, Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya is not slapstick but is based on funny situations. He says the humor in the movie will have people in splits.
