Shah Rukh Khan ’s Temptation 2005 show in Birmingham was a damp squib.
In stark contrast to SRK’s Temptation shows last year, his shows this year seem to be losing the steam.
Temptation 2005 that was held in Birmingham and Wembley on May 29 and 30, saw only fifty percent crowd turnout despite the fact that this year’s shows featured more Bollywood celebrities like Salman Khan , Lara Dutta , Esha Deol , Tusshar Kapoor and Ritesh Deshmukh .
The poor turnout at the show actually gave a heart attack to its promoter Farhath Hussain who suffered a loss approximating Rs 4 crore.
Even Shahrukh himself was so disappointed by the turnout that he said that he wasn’t supposed to perform.
“I’m actually here on holiday with my family,” said Shahrukh to the audience before the show. He danced to his ‘Kaal Dhamaal’ number from the movie Kaal .
The truth is that the Temptations show in the UK this year seemed doomed from the start. Firstly, the show was originally supposed to be a Sansui Awards night which was cancelled and replaced with a three-plus hr show with just one song performance by Bollywood stars. The time in between was filled by local artistes.
The show’s promoter Farhath says he has been getting angry mails from the fans who felt let down by the show. He says he is so disheartened that he has vowed not to do anymore shows in the future.
