Despite suffering a hamstring strain last week, Bollywood’s brawny dude Hrithik Roshan led his team to victory against Shah Rukh Khan ’s team in the celebrity cricket match at Amsterdam's Olympic stadium.
The match on Friday saw Hrithik’s team defeating Shahrukh's XI by a 30-run margin. There was, however, some consolation for Shahrukh as he did win the Best Bowler award.
But the scene-stealer of the match was Aftab Shivdasani who was adjudged man-of-the-match. He bowled out Shahrukh. He also gave a scintillating performance with the willow as he hit a huge six that nearly hit a man in the stands.
Comedian Boman Irani , who was the commentator for the match, remarked on Shivdasani’s antic: “The Shahrukh scalp may have just cost Aftab the chance to work with him in a movie.”
To spur the amateur cricketers, soundtrack of movie Dhoom blared out each time the ball was hit over the boundary and there were cheerleaders dancing on the sidelines.
A 4000-strong crowd, mainly comprising Dutch citizens of Indian origin who paid 30 euros each just to get in, cheered on the filmstars in their new avatar as cricketers, going wild each time someone hit a six.
