Despite the less-than-expected response to movie Bachke Rehna Re Baba , its director Govind Menon is crediting actress Mallika Sherawat for pulling the crowds to theatres.
Menon has sought contentment in the mere fact that his movie at least had a much better opening compared to Silsiilay , which released on the same day (last Friday).
Menon does acknowledge that Bachke Rehna Re Baba started off on a very average note. But he claims that the movie picked up over the weekend despite the fact that it has no stars.
And he is giving Mallika the credit for this.
“I would say the 60 percent (opening) the film managed initially is solely due to Mallika's presence,” Menon is quoted by IANS.
Whatever Menon believes, there are doubts whether Mallika still wields the same command over her admirers. Her previous film Kis Kiski Kismat (by Menon) was a dud at the marquee. And now the almost certain fate of Bachke… has raised questions whether Mallika can really pull crowds by the mere flaunting of her ‘physical assets’.
