So much has been written about Bollywood stunner Aishwarya Rai signing a slew of Hollywood projects. At last, words are translating into action as her first major Hollywood movie is ready to roll.
Ash’s first Hollywood movie will be ‘Last Legion’, a period drama starring legendary Ben Kingsley (who played Mahatma Gandhi in the Attenborough 1982 film ‘Gandhi’) and Colin Firth.
Reports say that the movie will be a big production venture with a budget close to $70 million.
Although Ash has so far acted in Gurinder Chadha’s Bride and Prejudice , Paul Berges’ under-production ‘Mistress of Spices’ and Jagmohan Mundhra’s in-the-making ‘Provoked’, none of these films can be called Hollywood ventures in true sense.
‘Last Legion’ will be set during the fall of the Roman Empire. Ash plays the female lead in the movie.
Besides marking Ash’s Hollywood debut, ‘Last Legion’ will also be the directorial debut of Doug Lefler, who has worked as the first assistant director on ‘Spiderman’.
‘Last Legion’ will go on floors in August this year. The movie will be shot in Tunisia, Italy and Slovakia.
Ash says she has been getting acting offers from Hollywood regularly. The last offer she got was to do the latest Will Smith comedy ‘Hitch’. However, she could not do the movie because her schedule is already busy with projects back home.
