HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD Lisa Ray busy in Canadian films11th July 2005 19.40 IST By Aparajita Ghosh After her small stint in Hindi films, model-turned-actress Lisa Ray is looking forward to work in Canadian movies. Lisa, who played a lawyer in Bollywood thriller Raaz , is not very enthused about working in Hindi films anymore. Rather, she has been honing her acting skills over the last year. She graduated from the London-based drama school, The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts, last September. 
Although the ravishing Ray keeps visiting India after few months, she has shown little enthusiasm in working in Bollywood. “It will be very difficult for me to work here (Bollywood) now. I don’t like the star system here and would rather be known as an actor,” Lisa is quoted by an entertainment site. On the other hand, Lisa is busy with Canadian film assignments. She has at present two films – ‘Seeking Fear’ and ‘Quarterlife Crisis’ – in her kitty. And she is looking forward to the premiere of her forthcoming movie, Deepa Mehta’s ‘Water’, at the Toronto Film Festival in September this year. The controversial film by the Toronto-based Mehta will open the festival. Besides Lisa, ‘Water’ stars John Abraham . “It is a great honor and I hope the film makes a statement,” Ray is quoted as saying. The movie is set in pre-independent India around the time of Mahatma Gandhi's rise to power. It recounts the saga of eight-year-old child-bride Chuyia, who is exiled to an ashram after her husband dies. Meanwhile, there are reports that say Lisa Ray is in love. Her beau is an Italian photographer. Lisa doesn’t deny that she is in love with the Italian (who is based in Paris), but she is not willing to reveal his name.
