HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD Aishwarya speaks on Salman tape row18th July 2005 21.14 IST By Aparajita Ghosh Actress Aishwarya Rai has broken her silence on the wiretapped telephonic conversation that has led to the allegations of actor Salman Khan ’s links with the underworld. The purported conversation, held in 2001, has Salman threatening Ash with dire consequences if she did not perform for a show for the underworld don Abu Salem. Salman has so far denied that the voice in the tape is his. He has also denied any links with the underworld. 
While a row was created by some political groups demanding strict action against Salman Khan, Aishwarya maintained a deliberate silence over the issue. But now she has spoken. The only disappointment is that what she has disclosed to the media is not of much help in this case, neither does it add any new light to the allegations. IANS quotes Aishwarya as saying: “I cannot comment on any of the content in the tape or the ensuing debate and discussion. The matter has been taken over by the law. Let the legal system take its course.” When asked about Salman, she said: “I've nothing to say about an association that ended for me a long time ago.” Meanwhile, the Mumbai police on Monday questioned Aishwarya at her residence in the upmarket Bandra neighbourhood for over two hours regarding the tapes. On Sunday, Salman Khan was interrogated and his voice samples were recorded by the police.
