HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD Viruddh touches Indian Americans23rd July 2005 11.40 IST By Agencies Mahesh Manjrekar directed Viruddh , with superstar Amitabh Bachchan , Sharmila Tagore and John Abraham in lead roles, has been well received by Indians in the US, where it was released this weekend. With a storyline similar to Mahesh Bhatt's award winning movie 'Saraansh', Viruddh marks the return of Sharmila Tagore, who shares the screen with Bachchan after a gap of 30 years, in a significant and powerful role as his wife. 
The movie revolves around a sixty-plus couple, played by Bachchan and Tagore, who are forced to search for their faith in society and human values after the death of their only son, portrayed by John Abraham, in an accident. It also tells the story of individuals standing up against the well-established paradigm of power, in defence of their convictions. Sanjay Dutt also makes a special appearance in the film, playing the lead couple's rugged car mechanic neighbour. According to an agency report, moviegoers in the US were delighted to see Bachchan yet again in a very powerful and convincing character. His on-screen chemistry with Tagore adds to the beauty of the movie. “They both look so natural and AB is simply superb with every role he gets, he just walks through it,” Deepa, an avid Bollywood movie fan in the US is quoted as saying. “After leaving the theatre you feel satisfied, strong and proud of your value system,” another Indian American movie buff said.
