Celina as the modern-day Anarkali

It seems to be the season of remakes. Aishwarya Rai , Priyanka Chopra and Tabu playing the lead roles in various remakes, now Celina Jaitley is also gearing up to star as the modern-day Anarkali.

Celina will play 'Anarkali' (a role immortalised by the stunningly beautiful Madhubala) in Mansingh Deep's adaptation of 'Mughal-E-Azam', tentatively titled 'Kaash Tumse Mohabbat Na Hoti'.

But the film will be a remake with a difference. It will be a modern day adaptation of the 'Mughal-E-Azam' on the lines of Maqbool , which was Macbeth in a contemporary mould.

So, as Madhubla was a courtesan in 'Mughal-E-Azam', Celina will play a bar dancer in 'Kaash Tumse Mohabbat Na Hoti'. That Celina has the stunning, ravishing, sexy and hot looks to play a bar dancer, can be judged from the updated Celina Jaitley Picture Gallery.

'Kaash Tumse Mohabbat Na Hoti' will have Rajesh Khanna playing Emperor Akbar’s role, transformed of course into the role of a top politician. While the male lead has not yet been finalized, the announcement could be made soon.

“Yes, I will be playing a modern day version of Anarkali,” said Celina when contacted. “I am playing a bar dancer in the film, just as Anarkali was a courtesan. The reason I signed on for this adaptation of 'Mughal-E-Azam' was because I felt the film brings out the plight of women brilliantly.”

Celina adds, “I am not talking about the high flying independent woman here, but rather the subdued, uneducated woman who even today has to face a lot of problems. I think every woman today has the strength to stand up to an emperor if required. The film will not concentrate on the love angle like the original, but will bring to the fore woman-oriented issues, to show that some things have not really changed in the last 100 years.”

Celina is also looking forward to gyrating to remix versions from the original 'Mughal-E-Azam' songs, which were runaway hits in their time. “Remixes are usually an insult to the originals, but in this case I found the remixes really good. They’ve been done by a musician based in the UK and they’re really good. It will be a pleasure to dance to the brilliant music of a classic like 'Mughal-E-Azam'.

Celina as a bar dancer gyrating to the remix versions of 'Mughal-E-Azam' in skimpy clothes – it will be a sight to watch out for!

Celina also plays a sari-clad wife to Fardeen Khan in No Entry , a film in which she is touted as the surprise package.

Though Bipasha Basu plays the temptress, those who have seen the film's rushes say Celina sizzles.
