Amitabh Bachchan starrer Viruddh has been a slow starter at the box-office in the UK and the US.
While David Dhawan’s comedy Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya opened at the 7th spot at the UK charts two weeks back, Mahesh Manjrekar’s Viruddh opened last Friday at the 12th spot and grossed £66,709 over the weekend.
Being screened at 28 theatres in the UK, Viruddh’s weekend earnings are not even half of the first weekend earnings of ‘MPKK’ (£148,298).
On the US charts, Viruddh opened at 32nd position and grossed $110,360 over the weekend. The movie is being screened at 37 theatres there.
Meanwhile, Pradeep Sarkar’s Parineeta seems on its way out from the US charts, sliding down six places (from 62 to 68) this week. The movie has so far earned $802,758 in its seven weeks’ run in the US.
At the UK box-office ‘MPKK’ is still going strong in its second week with its cumulative earnings approximating £320,800.
Other Bollywood releases like Dus and Sarkar have had a lacklustre run in the UK.
