'Jigyaasa' – A film with Bollywood as a backdrop

Bollywood has always been a favourite story backdrop for most of the filmmakers and ''Jigyaasa'', a film by Faisal Saif is the latest project, which goes on the floor on August 29.

The film written and directed by Faisal Saif stars Hrishitaa Bhatt as the protagonist who aspires to be a film star. She achieves her goal by making several compromises in life and eventually becomes a superstar only to realise in the end the cost she had to pay for it.

Talking to reporters recently Faisal, who has assisted Kamal Haasan in directing films like Abhay and Hey Ram , said the film is inspired by real incidents he has been a witness to during his career in the film industry.

''Women have become very ambitious in their respective careers and go all out to achieve their goals. Through the film I want to project that Bollywood is not an easy cake. It is only talent that thrives and success achieved through compromises does not last long'', Faisal said.

Faisal said his debut English film ''Pick up'' starring British actress Hayley Cleghorn will release this month in theatres and will also be screened at the Locarno film festival.

Hrishitaa who made her debut opposite Abhishek Bachchan in Shararat said she was excited about ''Jigyaasa''.

''I have done 12 films so far and this is the first time I am playing the protagonist. There is lot of scope to display my acting skills and I am going to make most of the opportunity'', she said.

The film also stars Varsha Usgaonkar, Milind Gunaji, Mukesh Tiwari, Ajay Verma and Sudesh Beri among others.

Faisal said he plans to release the film in December.
