A good number of Bollywood celebrities were present at the movie's premiere on Thursday night at Mumbai's Inox theatre. 
Besides the movie's cast - Rani Mukherjee , Amisha Patel and Toby Stephens - other celebrities like John Abraham , Bipasha Basu , Salman Khan , Preity Zinta , Anil Kapoor , Manisha Koirala , Lara Dutta , Jackie Shroff , Kunal Kohli , Shekhar Kapoor and his wife Suchitra Krishnamoorthy were among those who attended the movie's premiere. Aamir, dressed in a denim jeans with a white kurta and black sherwani, was present with ladylove Kiran Rao. There was a thunderous applause after the screening of the movie. People were particularly generous in lavishing praises upon Aamir for his "superb portrayal of Mangal Pandey". Kunal Kohli, the director of last year's hit Hum Tum , is quoted as saying: "I have always known Aamir to be a great performer but in 'The Rising', he has excelled and set a new bar in acting. It's a 're-rising' of a star after four long years." Incidentally, Aamir is acting in Kohli's next movie along with Kajol and Rishi Kapoor. Others to shower praise on Aamir were Anil Kapoor and John Abraham. Anil said Aamir never ceases to surprise him. John said Aamir's performance was exemplary for youngsters like him.
