Artists replacing each other due to one pretext or another has been age-long in Bollywood. But when Urmila Matondkar replaced Karisma Kapoor , it was not for a film.
The occasion was the celebration of the Indian Independence Day in San Francisco.
Karisma was the original choice for being a grand-marshal but she couldn’t make it following the court order restraining her from going there on the petition filed by her estranged husband Sanjay Kapur.
So the organizers replaced Karisma with Urmila, who was obviously thrilled on being a grand- marshal.
Urmila enjoyed it the most as the grand parade had replicas of different states of India. Besides, she tasted desi dishes at a special bazaar created with Indian things in plenty.
Seems like Karisma’s personal crisis are taking toll on not only her career but also on her social obligations.
