The other side of Salman Khan

Take the name of Salman Khan and what comes to your mind? A shirtless magnificently built body falling in one controversy after another? Salman has been glorified in the media as the ‘Brat of Bollywood’.

But there is one side of the superstar, which many people don’t know.

And that is that Salman has a heart of gold. And many people close to him will vouch for that. He is known to help people in dire straits and the most recent benefactor of Salman’s generosity was director Sawan Kumar Tak .

After the recent flops like ‘Sanam Harjai’, ‘Mother 98’ and ‘Dil Pardesi Ho Gaya’, Tak is all geared up to start his new film tentatively titled ‘Saawan – The Love Season’.

And Tak approached Salman to do a special appearance in the film. Salman and Tak together delivered a hit ‘Sanam Bewafaa’ in the early 1990s.

But when Tak narrated the role to Salman, he became so interested that he wanted a complete narration. After listening to it, Salman told Tak to approach mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan for the role. His logic was it was too big a role and only Bachchan could do justice to it.

But Tak explained that he needed a younger actor and that no one else fitted this role except Salman. An agreement was reached and Salman gave Tak 10 straight days to shoot. But when they started shooting, Salman’s role got bigger and instead of 10 days, it took 30 days. What started as a special appearance, ended up with Salman becoming the hero of the film.

But Salman was generous enough to waive off his hefty fee for Tak who is nowadays going through little financial troubles. And Tak is grateful to Salman, who he says, “is such a big, busy star. He could’ve easily looked the other way and ignored one in trouble. But he’s a gem of a person. He sometimes behaves mischievously, but that’s his fun nature. He’s just a greatly misunderstood person!”
