In the movie directed by debutant Siddharth Raj Anand, Preity plays a radio jockey and Saif Ali Khan plays a chef. Since the story of the movie is set in Melbourne, Australia, the makers of the movie wanted chic and trendy dresses that would go along with Preity’s vivacious personality. 
So, young designer Surily Goel – protégée of Manish Malhotra – was roped in. Before the shooting of the movie began, Surily got to know Preity’s fashion tastes and took a trip Down Under. There, she saw fashion trends among the youth and thus bought a number of dresses, including the red halter-neck top that Preity wears in the movie’s title song ‘Salaam Namaste’. After Surily returned India, a look test was conducted on Preity. Surily says the actress looked absolutely stunning in some of those clothes. “At the risk of sounding boastful, I can tell you that Preity looked out of this world when she got into those Aussie clothes,” Surily is quoted as saying by a website. Other outfits Surily has designed for Preity in the movie include a cotton strapless top with Scottish checks and cargo pants. Preity has worn this dress in the song ‘My Dil goes mmmm’. Another dress has denim Capris and a pink knit top over it. Salaam Namaste will hit the theatres this Friday.
