Eventually it has fallen into Kareena Kapoor’s lap. Kareena Kapoor has been signed for director Vishal Bhardwaj ’s film ‘Mr. Mehta and Mrs. Singh’. Aamir Khan plays Mr. Mehta in the film, while Kareena plays Mrs. Singh. 
The movie traces 30 years of life of two people, Mr. Mehta, a chartered accountant, and Mrs. Singh, a housewife. The movie begins when the two characters are 25 years old and ends when they are 55. In the movie, Kareena and Aamir will be donning five different looks to portray their characters through different time periods. Before signing Kareena, Vishal had considered Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta for the role. But none of the two had spare dates. Vidya Balan was also approached but then dropped later. Meanwhile, Vishal thought of having Aamir-Kareena jodi for his film because “the pair would be new and a refreshing change,” as he puts it. Aamir himself approved of Kareena and in one of the script-reading sessions he and Kareena enacted a few scenes. According to Bhardwaj, there was an instant chemistry between the two. Vishal is co-producing ‘Mr. Mehta and Mrs. Singh’ with UTV. He plans to start shooting for the movie in July 2006 and wrap it up by September 2006. The entire film will be shot in Pondicherry.
