Salaam Namaste opened at No. 14 position on UK charts and made a respectable sum of £208,365 on 34 screens in its weekend run.
In the US too, the movie made an impressive start. The film opened at No. 20 position and made a decent sum of $504,898 in its opening weekend run at 63 screens. The earnings have made it the third biggest Bollywood grosser this year in the US after Paheli and ‘Mangal Pandey’.
As Salaam Namaste’s story is set in Australia and tells the tale of two Indians in a live-in relationship in Melbourne, a good opening was expected at the Australian box-office, as well.
The film opened at 13th position and made Australian $130,780 on 9 screens. The movie has fared much better than other Bollywood releases Down Under this year.
Regarding previous Bollywood releases, No Entry has gone down 7 spots (from 14 to 21) in the UK with its cumulative earnings approximating £339,190.
Mangal Pandey is at 32nd position in the UK in its fifth weekend with its total earnings approximating £615,069.
