British beauty Annabelle arrives in Bollywood

Annabelle Wallace is the latest British beauty to arrive in Bollywood with Romesh Sharma’s movie Dil Jo Bhi Kahey .

Annabelle was born in the UK, but brought up in Portugal. In Portugal, she did some short films before she moved to London to pursue a career in movies. In London, she did some advertisements, went to drama school and learnt finer points of acting under a coach. She also did a British film called ‘Jerhito’.

When Bollywood producer-director Romesh Sharma went to London to search for a foreign face for his movie Dil Jo Bhi Kahey, Annabelle applied through her agent. After two auditions, she was signed for the role.

Although it was a Hindi movie, Annabelle did not have to work hard for her role because her dialogues in the movie are in English.

Dil Jo Bhi Kahey is a love story between two youngsters who come from very different social and cultural backgrounds.

The film stars newcomer Karan Sharma and Annabelle as the two lovers. Amitabh Bachchan and Revathy play Karan’s parents, while Malcolm Stoddard and Claire Oberman play Anabelle’s parents. The movie also has a special appearance by Bhumika Chawla .

Annabelle says when she came to know that she would be acting alongside Amitabh Bachchan in the film, she went to the local video shop in London and got hold of his movies.

“It’s a great honour that I got to work with him,” Annabelle says.

Meanwhile, Annabelle has become fond of Indian food. She loves chicken tikka, pickles and chai. She has also caught up on basic Hindi words like “bhook laga, paani, khana, shukriya” and the most important one – “main tumse pyaar karti hoon”.
