Salaam Namaste is holding steady at the UK charts, while last week’s release Chocolate has opened poorly in the UK and the US.
Looks like Salaam Namaste is emerging as the biggest Bollywood hit of the year not only at home but also abroad. The movie, starring Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta , is raking it in the UK, US and Australia.
The film is holding steady at 14th position at the UK charts. Being screened on 35 theatres, it has so far made a cumulative sum of £457,129, with the per screen average of £4,174.
In the US, Salaam Namaste is at 27th place (7 spots down from the last weekend) in its second week. The movie is being shown at 63 theatres and has so far made a decent sum approximating $911,021.
In Australia, too, the movie is maintaining its position at the 13th spot with its total earning being Australian $280,722.
The way Salaam Namaste has been going so far could make it the biggest Bollywood hit of the year at the box-office abroad.
Among last week’s releases, Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘Chocolate’ opened poorly in the US. The movie opened at 60th position on the charts and made a paltry sum of $38,000 in its weekend run at 20 theatres.
In the UK, too, ‘Chocolate’ opened weakly at 23rd position and made a meager amount of £18,809 during its weekend run at 14 theatres.
No Entry , on the other hand, has done comparatively well in the UK. It is at 24th spot with its total earnings approximating £372,868 in its fourth week.
‘Mangal Pandey The Rising ’ is at 34th place in the UK.
