Improvisation is Ramu’s forte. He showed that in Sarkar and is now going to show in the remake of his recent flop James . But there is another ambitious venture on Ramu’s mind.
The maverick filmmaker is planning to remake an improvised version of his movie Bhoot in English. The remake will be titled ‘Within’ and will have Hollywood actors only. The cast has still not been revealed. While Bhoot was set in a Mumbai apartment, ‘Within’ would be set in an apartment in Manhattan, New York, Ramu told a website. ‘Within’ has an approximate budget of US $6 million. Percept Picture Company will produce the film. Ramu says he grew up watching Hollywood movies and he feels that Bollywood has a lot to learn from its American counterpart in terms of cinematic aesthetics and story structure. However, Ramu makes it clear that he will continue making Hindi movies in the future as well. ‘Within’ will go on the floors early next year. It will be released by late 2006. For the time being, Varma is getting ready to direct his next movie ‘Shiv’ which is the remake of his recent flop ‘James’. The movie stars Mohit Ahlawat yet again.
