Often we see Sunny Deol only in roles that require him to holler and bash up several guys single-handedly. But now, the Punjabi Jatt is all set to surprise everyone.
First, there were speculations of Sunny Deol playing a royal figure in a period film. Now, some confirmed reports are pouring in.
Sunny will play the male lead in filmmaker Chandraprakash Diwedi’s movie Prithviraj-Samjukta.
Earlier, Raj Kumar Santoshi, too, had plans to make a film on the same subject with Ajay Devgan and Aishwarya Rai in the title roles. But Santoshi has now backed out, leaving the road clear for Diwedi to make the film.
Diwedi has already had many script-reading sessions with Sunny. The filmmaker says Sunny’s role in the film will be unlike anything movie buffs have seen till now.
A website quotes Diwedi as saying: “When I met him (Sunny) I knew he was correct for Prithiviraj. I told him this role wasn't in keeping with his image and that I wouldn't let him do what he has been doing.”
Sunny’s last movie Jo Bole So Nihaal was a no-go at the box office because of the protests from Sikh community. The actor had said in an interview few weeks back that he was looking for an image makeover. Perhaps, Prithviraj-Samjukta will initiate that process for him.
