Saif Ali Khan plays the royal heir, the son of the Rana family. This is the first time Saif and Ms. Tagore (real life son-mother) are playing son and mother on the big screen.
Vidya Balan plays Saif’s love interest. She is the daughter of Rana's chauffeur. Raima Sen plays Saif’s mentally unstable sister. Sanjay Dutt plays a police officer.
The movie’s director Vidhu Vinod Chopra had wanted to work with Amitabh Bachchan for many years. It is only now that the superstar was free enough to work with the director who is known for his perfectionist streak.
Speaking about Chopra in an interview, Bachchan said: “He (Chopra) was very meticulous about my look in the film. He worked long hours to make sure my get up was perfect and each hair in my beard looked correct.”
The film was shot in the deserts and havelis of Udaipur, Jaipur and Bikaner. The movie’s running length is believed to be around one-and-a-half hour.
