When Ayesha Takia wept real tears!

Who says Ayesha Takia is just a pretty face and shapely body without any acting skills.

There is more to Ayesha than the girlie image she has got because of the roles she has played so far. In actor Naseeruddin Shah ’s directorial debut Yun Hota To Kya Hota, the svelte belle is playing a character that stretches her limits as an actress.

In the film, Ayesha plays a character who loses her man in the 9/11 attacks on the twin towers in New York.

An important scene from the movie was recently shot at Juhu's club Rock Bottom. The setting showed Ayesha dining in a restaurant when she gets a call from her man, Rahul (his name in the movie). The character is played by actor Ankur Khanna.

The scene showed Ayesha taking the call in which Rahul says there is a problem on the plane. The call is supposed to have been made before the highjacked planes crashed into the towers. Rahul is on one of the planes.

It was understandably a complex scene that required precise expressions from Takia. She was supposed to take the call with amusement. But this amusement should then give way to panic after she learns that her man is in danger.

Ayesha made a few promising attempts at the shot, but the director, Naseer, was not satisfied. After a few takes, Naseer took her aside and explained again in detail how she was to enact.

This time, Ayesha came good. Her facial expressions belonged to a woman about to lose someone dear.

The next shot showed a small crowd gathering around the TV in the restaurant, watching the live pictures of the planes crashing into the towers.

Ayesha gave her best to this shot. She looked at the TV screen. Tears filled her eyes and streamed down her cheeks. The horror and loss on her face was evident.

What was commendable is that Ayesha did not use glycerine to cry. Her tears were real.

And the slight smile on Naseer’s face said that the man was satisfied with Ayesha’s act.

Yun Hota To Kya Hota stars Konkana Sen , Irfaan Khan , Arshad Warsi , Ayesha, Ratna Pathak Shah, Boman Irani and Paresh Rawal .

The movie’s title is inspired from a Mirza Ghalib couplet.
