HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD 'Apaharan' premieres at IFFI30th Nov 2005 22.00 IST By ApunKaChoice Bureau Filmmaker Prakash Jha’s forthcoming movie Apaharan premiered on Wednesday at the 36th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. A red carpet was laid out at the INOX multiplex to greet the movie’s stars Ajay Devgan , Bipasha Basu and director Prakash Jha . The auditorium was packed to its capacity. 
However, the spirits were dampened as the two actors and Jha arrived at the venue more than half-an-hour late. When the trio went on the stage, some people in the audience booed, expressing their displeasure. Devgan apologized to the audience for the delay and the movie’s screening began. But there was a halt in the screening just after a few minutes as some people were found filming the movie with their cameras. The screening resumed later. Apaharan is a movie based on the kidnappings in Bihar. The movie has Devgan playing Ajay Shastri, a man burdened by the expectations of his highly principled and self-righteous social activist father. The film tells the story from the perspective of an ordinary man who is sucked into the whirlpool of crime. Speaking about the movie on the occasion, Jha said: “Apaharan reflects many of the changing social, economic and political realities. It underlines the dynamics of a society where with the dearth of opportunities, crime has now become very lucrative almost a legitimate occupation for the youth.” Apaharan will release on December 2, the coming Friday.
