His buoyant spirit and charming persona, even more so. Salman Khan, the macho star, the capricious Capricorn, turns 40 years of age today. 
Frankly, Salman’s standing in Bollywood may not be at par with the likes of Shahrukh and the Big B, the star still enjoys considerable fan following. Looking back this year, it was Salman, not Shahrukh, who held the limelight for long. Salman gave three successful films this year – Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya , No Entry and Lucky – No Time For Love . While a great deal of credit for the success of Maine Pyar… and ‘Lucky’ goes to Salman, ‘No Entry’ was a multistarrer and had Salman playing a Casanova-like character who doesn’t mind some ‘fun’ outside his marriage. True to his nature, Salman also courted controversies this year. He was embroiled in an audiotape controversy that alleged his connections with the underworld. However, Khan was later given the clean chit after the forensic labs found the tapes doctored. Salman, who began his career way back in 1988 with a forgettable movie called Biwi Ho To Aisi, is today the heartthrob of millions. Apart from his so-called ‘bratty’ image, Salman has over the years involved himself in many charities and noble causes. People who know him close, call him ‘friend of friends’.
