We have seen actor Saif Ali Khan playing suave, cool dude characters in films. Now, get ready to see him as a gaon ka chhora with a UP accent.
That is precisely what Saif is said to be playing in filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj ’s celluloid adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’.
In the film, the story of Othello is set in Indian milieu. Saif plays the character of Iago. But his Iago is unlike anyone we can expect.
Describing the movie as ‘a big gangster film’, Saif told a senior scribe: “It is a bloody good script. And I get to do a full-on rustic character with a UP accent and all. I have never done all this before. It's got really cool dialogues.”
In fact, so excited is Saif about this project that he has been turning down other plum offers. Reportedly, Saif has declined big offers from Ram Gopal Varma and Mani Ratnam because of his present commitment to Bhardwaj’s project and another movie he is doing with Siddharth Raj Anand, the director of Salaam Namaste .
Moreover, Saif himself would be giving a new look to his character in Bhardwaj’s movie. Firstly, he will sport a bald head. Then, he is thinking of a facial scar and earrings to make his character look authentic.
