HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | BOLLYWOOD John Abraham to play archer Arjun!13th Feb 2006 16.45 IST By ApunKaChoice Bureau When Bipasha Basu is finalized to play the mythical character of Draupadi from the epic Mahabharat, who else is better choice to play Arjun than John Abraham . Just a few days back, we reported about Bipasha’s possibility of playing Draupadi in Rituparno Ghosh ’s movie ‘Draupadi’. Now, the director has reportedly finalized John to play the archer Arjun. 
As learnt, Ghosh has settled past differences with the actor and has expressed his desire to cast John in two of his forthcoming films. “John and I have sorted out our differences. Not just Bhootnath (in Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam ), I also want him to play Arjun in my Draupadi,” Ghosh is quoted as saying. Interestingly, the movie will not recreate the Mahabharat on screen but will take what Ghosh calls a “womanist” view of the epic. Almost all of Ghosh’s films have had women-oriented themes. Meanwhile, a formal confirmation of the project has yet to come from Bipasha and John, although both have expressed their interest in the project. Ghosh is also said to have finalized Naseeruddin Shah to play the blind emperor Dhritarashtra and Shabana Azmi to play Kunti, the mother of Pandavas. The shooting of the film is likely to start in September this year.
