Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra ’s hit movie Rang De Basanti could have featured top stars of Bollywood, if only things had gone as Mehra had initially planned.
Just a few weeks back, we reported that Hrithik Roshan was Mehra’s original choice to play the role of stoic Karan, which was eventually essayed by Siddharth in the movie.
Now, the latest tinsel buzz is that Mehra had approached none other than Shah Rukh Khan to enact the role of flight lieutenant Ajay Rathod in the film.
But SRK turned down Mehra’s offer.
There could be many reasons for SRK’s refusal. The first one could be that SRK’s marginal fifteen-minute role in the movie would have made him a second fiddle to Aamir. It would have certainly undermined SRK’s image among his fans. Another reason, as Mehra cites, was the lack of dates. The role eventually went to Madhavan .
Whatever the case, the bygones are gone. The movie is a hit and Mehra is on cloud nine preparing for his next project.
