John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan may be friends in real life. But that doesn’t explain why John has turned down two recent movie offers to act with Abhishek.
John and Abhishek were equally credited for the success of Dhoom . Neither of the two actors dominated the other and rather left their own mark in the movie. But now when the careers of both John and Abhi have taken off big time, any project that casts one as the second fiddle to the other sure won’t be lucrative to the two actors.
In the last few months, John has got two acting offers in films starring Abhishek in the lead. First, it was Mani Ratnam who wanted John to fill the space left by the departure of Vivek Oberoi from his film Guru , starring Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai in the leading roles. Then it was Shaad Ali , director of Bunty Aur Babli who wanted John for his movie Jhoom Barabar Jhoom that again has Abhishek in the lead. John turned down both the offers, citing date problems.
But there are reports that say John doesn’t want to play second fiddle to Abhi. One report quotes John as saying that he is at a juncture in his career where he expects filmmakers to cast him in roles that befit his stature.
John’s last release Taxi Number 9211 has been a success at the box-office. But it can’t be called his solo film because Nana Patekar shared equal footage in the film and entertained the audience with his eccentric sense of humour.
