Krrish : The superhero and the saviour

He is the superhero gifted with incredible powers inherited from his father Rohit. But when a megalomaniac scientist plans to unleash destruction upon the world, can this superhero also become a saviour? This is the basic plot of Rakesh Roshan’s forthcoming film ‘Krrish’.

The film, sort of a sequel to Koi Mil Gaya , has Hrithik Roshan playing the protagonist Krishna or Krrish, the son of Rohit and Nisha (Hrithik and Preity Zinta from ‘Koi Mil Gaya’).

Krrish is gifted with superhuman powers. Growing up in the lap of nature, he skids through the air, jumps long distances with nimble-footed ease and has an amazing physical strength. Only love is lacking in his life, which, too, comes with the coming of a beautiful girl named Priya from Singapore.

Krrish is absolutely smitten with Priya. And when she returns back to Singapore, Krrish is lonely and lovelorn.

Krrish’s grandmother ( Rekha ), who has given him a protective upbringing after the death of his parents, tells him to follow the call of his heart and go to Singapore to find Priya.

So the village superhero goes to the world-class city and soon adapts to its ways. He also finds his ladylove. And all this time in the city, Krrish discreetly conceals his superpowers from the world. But one incident, a fire in a circus, prompts Krrish to use his powers. He dons a mask and saves many lives and becomes famous in the city as an anonymous masked hero.

But will this masked hero be a match for the megalomaniac scientist Dr Siddharth Arya ( Naseeruddin Shah ) , who has some big evil plans for the world. With all odds stacked up against him, Krrish takes upon himself the ultimate task.

Made at the mega budget of Rs 45-crore, ‘Krrish’ has been shot mainly in Singapore. In fact, Rakesh Roshan had an agreement with the Singapore government to shoot at the major locales of the city without any hindrance.

For his role in the film, Hrithik had to train arduously under Hong Kong-based martial arts expert Tony Ching. Hrithik’s brush with injuries began from preparation stages. First, he sprained his ankle. Later, while shooting for the movie, he pulled a hamstring. But the most deadly of all was a dangerous stunt that went spectacularly wrong and while performing it Hrithik fell from a great height onto a safety net and sustained a back injury.

The movie also stars Sharat Saxena, Puneet Issar, Hemant Pandey, Manini De, Kiran Juneja and Archana Puran Singh.

‘Krrish’ will be dubbed in other Indian regional languages as well. The film will hit the theatres on June 30.
