But talking to reporters in Mumbai on Thursday, director Rajkumar Hirani said that the film is not a sequel but another episode in the life of Munna and Circuit and their encounter with truth. 
Hirani also announced the change of the film’s title. Earlier the film was titled Munnabhai Meets Mahatma and now the title has been changed to Munnabhai 2nd Innings . ‘Munnabhai 2nd Innings’ once again has the dashing Sanjay Dutt in the lead role as the good-hearted goon Munnabhai supported by Arshad Warsi as the inimitable Circuit. ‘Munnabhai 2nd Innings’ also stars Boman Irani and Jimmy Shergill who played significant roles in ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ released two years ago. Hirani added that the new movie has Vidya Balan in the female lead while Dia Mirza stars in a supporting role. Hirani added that the film is being produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra , music is by Shantanu Moitra, lyrics by Swanand Kirkire, cinematography by C K Muraleeedharan and production design by Nitin Desai. ‘Munnabhai 2nd Innings’ is scheduled to release on August 25 this year.
