Hrithik Roshan’s success story, a bit unusual

Is it a mere coincidence that the only hit films Hrithik Roshan has had in his career have been made by his father Rakesh Roshan ?

For start, let us discount Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham , which was a multistarrer with some top Bollywood stars hogging the limelight. Having done that, we are reduced to just two hit films in Hrithik’s entire acting career spanning more than four years.

And the two hit films happen to be – his debut film Kaho Na Pyar Hai and his 2003 hit Koi Mil Gaya , both made by Rakesh Roshan.

Surprisingly, in the meanwhile, Hrithik worked with some of the best directors in the industry – Vidhu Vinod Chopra ( Mission Kashmir ), Subhash Ghai ( Yaadein ), Farhan Akhtar ( Lakshya ) and Sooraj Bharjatya ( Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon ) – but not a single one of these films set the cash registers ringing at the box-office.

So what is it with Hrithik and papa Rakesh Roshan that whenever the two come together, success is theirs to claim?

Rakesh Roshan had said in an interview a few months back that he is most comfortable in working with Hrithik, a compliment that Hrithik vociferously reciprocated.

Hrithik had said: “Working with papa is like working in my own film. We understand each other very well. And I feel motivated and I give my best to whatever my dad expects of me.”

True indeed, given the fact that Hrithik redefined his own mental and physical limits while working on Krrish , which is going to be the next big movie from the father-son duo.

And given the movie’s pre-release hype and brouhaha, it looks like this one too is going to be a big grosser of its times.

But this is not it. Now, even Hrithik’s uncle, Rajesh Roshan , a noted music composer, is thinking of directing a movie. And Hrithik is said to be his first choice to play the lead role in the film, which will be a musical.

Perhaps in the case of the Roshans, two and two indeed make eleven.
