Aishwarya attends 'Da Vinci' premiere, poses with Andie MacDowell

Looking elegant in a black dress, Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai had her moments of limelight on the opening day of the 59th Cannes Film Festival.

The most prestigious film event in the world kicked off in the French Riviera town, Cannes, on Wednesday, May 17, with the premiere of Ron Howard’s controversial movie The Da Vinci Code .

Film personalities and celebrities from all around the world attended the premiere. India’s Aishwarya Rai was also at the star-studded event.

Wearing a black dress, a gorgeous looking Aishwarya posed on the red carpet for the photographers. She also posed with American actresses Andie MacDowell – who was also attired in a black outfit – and Kerry Washington, whose red dress almost matched with the red carpet underneath.

However, there was a reason for the three beauties to be posing together. They are the faces for cosmetics giant L'Oreal.

Aishwarya, particularly, has been a regular presence at the Cannes for the last few years. She first attended the event when her movie Devdaas was taken to the fest. Later, she was one of the jury members at the fest in 2003. Over the years, Ash has made many friends at Cannes and has also attended the event as the ambassador for L’Oreal.

This year, Aishwarya’s movie Provoked will be screened at the festival. However, the movie won’t be a part of the competition section and will therefore have a private screening.

The Festival de Cannes will run till May 28.

Indian movies like Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara and Karan Johar’s Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna are also being promoted at the fest.
